One of my favorite opening scenes, where… nothing happens.
Vertical Ray of the Sun.

Branded To Kill aka Koroshi no rakuin.

Haruka Ayase in Ichi.
A loose reinterpretation of Zatoichi.
Patricia Franchini: What is your greatest ambition in life?

Rodarte x Maggie Cheung Collection (short film by Wing Shya)
a collaboration with critically-acclaimed fashion label Rodarte, luxury brand SWAROVSKI ELEMENTS, and famous actress Maggie Cheung. Rodarte designers, Kate and Laura Mulleavy, have handmade four one-of-a-kind creations specifically for this charitable initiative. Each piece is inspired by Maggie Cheung and references one of her films: In the Mood for Love, Hero, Clean, and Heroic Trio. The four stunning pieces have been captured in a short film by Wing Shya with music by Peter Kam. For every click of the short film on YouTube from now to 31 March 2010, JOYCE will donate HK$1 to UNICEF.

odagiri jo, kase ryo, kuriyama chiaki.

Leung Chiu Wai can never do wrong.
Syndromes and a Century
Directed by Apichatpong Weerasethakul (call me “Joe”)
"The film is a tribute to the director’s parents and is divided into two parts, with the characters and dialogue in the second half essentially the same as the first, but the settings and outcome of the stories are different. The first part is set in a hospital in rural Thailand while the second half is set in a Bangkok medical center."
This completely slipped under my radar, but I really loved his sublime Tropical Malady, one of those films I saw opening night here in Los Angeles, with 3 people in the theater, and 2 of them ended up walking out out of “boredom.” There are some films made solely for the experience on the big screen, and Tropical Malady was one of them.
Alfa Romeo Junior Zagato.
The original inspiration for the Honda CRX.
i’ve been rereading old books that i read a few years ago, and finding old marked/creased pages.
Natalie Portman.
I blame her for my obsession of attached earlobes, although they are covered here.
I’m normally not a huge fan of cheesy romantic comedies, but the cast (Daniel Wu, Nick Tse, Vivian Hsu) are drool worthy. This will be the first Asian romantic comedy bought by fox pictures for distribution.
oh, and it’s co-directed by Wing Shya, Wong Kar-Wai’s long time set photographer (it wasn’t Doyle who did all that).
MONGA.
One of the very few Taiwanese gangster movies, whereas most people are familiar with Triads in Hong Kong films, and Yakuza in Japanese films.
